Stud Welding…Easy as 1-2-3!
- Load the stud in the gun and place it against your workpiece.
- Pull the trigger. An electric arc is created between the stud and your workpiece, melting both surfaces.
- The stud is then pressed into the molten pool, creating a strong bond in less than a second as it cools.
Types of Stud Welding:
- Arc Stud Welding uses a flux tip to create the arc. Arc Stud Welding can be used to obtain a full fusion weld that becomes stronger than the stud itself and is suitable for thicker materials.
- Capacitor Discharge (CD) Welding uses a capacitor to discharge energy quickly, ideal for thinner materials and eliminates reverse side markings.
Advantages of Stud Welding:
- Saves TIME & MONEY.
- Easy application with minimal training needed.
- Speedy process takes less than a second.
- Durable bond that won’t fail.
- Versatile uses with a variety of materials and thicknesses.
- High-quality fastening with less work.
- Requires less material preparation and can be used on thinner materials.
Cost Comparison:
To produce 1000 units of any product requiring the use of 5000 fasteners:
- Drilling: 2 minutes of drilling each fastener@$0.85 labor cost = $4250
- Drilling & Tapping: 4 minutes of drilling and installing each fastener@$1.65 labor cost = $8150
- Stud Welding: 1/10 of a minute Stud Welding each fastener@$0.32 = $1600
That’s a savings of $6550 to $2650!
Some of the many applications of Stud Welding:
Construction:
- Attaching studs to steel beams for structural support.
- Securing cladding materials to building exteriors.
- Fixing insulation and fireproofing materials.
- Installation of HVAC systems to secure heating, ventilation and AC systems.
Sheet Metal Fabrication
- Application of various fasteners, such as threaded studs, pins and bushing to sheet metal quickly and securely.
- Ideal for welding brackets and supports onto sheet metal, providing reliable connections.
- Used to mount electrical components and wiring harnesses onto metal panels.
Metal Sign Industry
- Attaching letters and logos to sign panels, ensuring a clean and professional finish.
- Quick and strong mounting of signs onto various surfaces.
- Support for inside wiring of neon can lighting with a durable attachment.
Automotive
- Commonly used in the automotive industry for attaching components to car bodies and frames.
- Attaching heat shields to protect components from high temperatures.
- Securing parts like instrument panels and electric wire routing in dashboards.
- Fastening components in exhaust systems for durability.
The possibilities are endless!
- Furniture Manufacturing
- Catering and Food Processing
- Farming and Agricultural Machinery and Storage
- Even ROCKET SHIPS!
Our StudPro Line of Stud Welders offers a superior fastening solution with minimal effort. Capacitor Discharge (CD) Stud Welders, like our StudPro, deliver exceptional quality, precision and strength in an instant. This method is not only quick and convenient but also requires less material preparation compared to other fastening techniques. Additionally, our StudPro can be used on much thinner materials than methods like threading, opening numerous possibilities for manufacturing and design.
