Headed Shear Connector Studs HSC 1 414

Size: 1 x 4-1/4

Made in USA with Certs provided.

Headed Shear Connector Studs are used in all types of concrete connections. They can be welded to a flat surface, Inside an angle, or on the heel of an angle using a  stud welding system.

Length: Length is before weld. Stud diameters (D) 1/2 inch and below will be approximately 1/8 inch shorter after welding. 5/8-7/8 inch will be approximately 3/16 inch shorter after welding.

Made to order lengths are available upon request.

Description

Headed Shear Connector Studs (1 x 4-1/4″)

Our Headed Shear Connector Studs are composed of low-carbon steel (ASTM A29, ASTM A108).
All purchases of headed shear connector studs come with the necessary ferrules required for stud welding. Lets us know what your application is and we will provide the appropriate ferrule.

When Arc Stud Welding with the proper equipment and setup, you obtain a full fusion weld that becomes stronger than the stud itself.

The general purpose of a headed shear connector is to provide a strong mechanical connection between steel and concrete slab. Designed to secure the concrete to the steel beams and resist shear loadings between them. Some advantages of shear connectors over other forms of connectors are:

  • Installation and welding process is quick and simple
  • Provides little obstruction to the slab reinforcement
  • It provides equal shear strength in all directions

The most common size for Welding Through Metal Deck is 3/4” diameter and smaller. Shear connectors hold concrete slabs to steel members to resist shear forces and increase shear loading capacity in steel buildings, bridges, and columns. Embedment anchors on miscellaneous embedded plates, frames, angles, and strip plates.

Structural steel fabrication commonly uses arc studs. A process called arc stud welding allows a metal fastener to be welded to a parent metal through a fusion weld. A “ferrule” captures and retains the weld’s heat. The process creates molten metal that cools the weld site. The weld produced is stronger than the stud itself. Welders can use drawn arc stud welding with dissimilar metals such as mild and stainless steel, as well as aluminum.
